Novice Rep Jets Battle Through Midseason Stretch…
The Wilson Timber Mart Novice Rep Jets hosted the Gananoque Islanders this past Saturday looking to share a little pay back with the Islanders from their win over the Jets the weekend before.
The Jets came out strong with good offensive pressure, and tight defence and goaltending. However, as expected from their 2nd place spot in the standings, and despite a number of power play opportunities, the Islanders were hard to navigate yet again, and the Jets came up short with a final score of 9-3. Jets goals were scored by Brody Harrison (2), and Reid McEathron, with a helper to Riley Kavanagh.
On Sunday, the Jets faced off against the Ennismore Eagles for their first meeting of the season. The Eagles got on the board early, potting 3 against the Jets in the initial frame. The Jets held the Eagles back to only one in the second with strong goaltending by Jets tandem Jayden Hughey and Rylan Musclow. In the third, the Jets scored first, but the Eagles never held back, forechecking the Jets until opportunities were capitalized on, and coming away with a 7-1 win at the final buzzer. The Jets single marker came from Brody Harrison, with an assist to Riley Kavanagh.
Coming up all day this Saturday is the Jets’ home Mineral Capital Cup tournament, hosting teams from Millbrook, Renfrew, Barry’s Bay, Stirling, among others.
