Feb. 21 Weekend Hockey/2
February 21/2 Weekend hockey report.

February 21st in Douro, Bierworth Bantam Jets' defense was sharp.  Despite the precise prevention by Hudder and Coulas, Douro was the only team to Duke one in the net, ending the period with a royal buzzer beater.  In the 2nd period, Hooey and Browlee made sure that the forwards had plenty of shots on goal. The line of Boyd, Simspon and Armstrong built on that momentum as Armstrong made the first Jet goal to tie the game.  Simpson's razzle dazzle and slide earned a tying goal. The Jets capitalized on Wilson's breakaway, as a well positioned Dylan Cox crowned his first goal. Two great shots in succession, by two different Jets, saw Cox pick off the rebound and score. Douro's hard work earned them another to end the game 4-3 for us. Honourable mention to Generick for his dogged determination.

Saturday's home game started with Boyd's line giving him time for a backhander for the first goal of the game against the Otonabee Wolves. Simpson and Armstrong had plenty of back and forth that led to the next goal.  Armstrong scored again right away but it was called back. Hunt's backhander found its mark to make it 3-0. Coulas carved a creative wrist shot from the point for 4-0. Boyd and Cox cruised in together and Cox effectively screened for Boyd's second goal.  Kolton careened one off the top stick-side of the post. Hunt fed Brownlee at the top of the point and Armstrong's deflection cranked another one for the scoreboard. More goals ensued from;

Cox's breakaway from the blueline, Simpson deftly picking up Armstrong's rebound, Hunt skating through the crowd and successfully sending the puck home, Stewart with another,  another by Simpson. Hudder, Browlee, Boyd, Hooey Brownlee, and Coulas each garnered further goals. Otonabee played honourably and each team owes a debt of gratitude to each goalie as they  earned their keep.
