The Silver Stick qualifier was in Wilberforce Saturday, December 6th.

Coulas won the first faceoff to set the tone for the game, as the Jets were fueled up and ready off the tarmac. The Sturgeon Lake Thunder were heard rumbling in the distance and sounded first on the scoreboard. Simpson assisted Cox to crack the silence and tie it up.  Riding the sound wave, Grant crashed one to Coulas, to end the period 2-1. Stewart then set up Hunt to start the 2nd period, adding some lightning action, to score on the Thunder. Boyd's pass from the boards started a great series of action, that led to the calm before the storm, as the puck sat untouched until Simpson netted the Sturgeon. Some cool-headed keeping by Robinson had the Sturgeons on ice. Bailey had a series of solid stoppages especially in the third period when turbulence was intensifying. Stewart soared in with a backhander to end the game with a win; 5-2.

The next game, at noon, faced the Lakefield Chiefs. Hooey and Simpson sent the puck from behind the net to Griffin who beamed a laser to open the game with a goal. Precision prevention moves by the defense pre-empted Chief action. 'Smooth' was the call out from the crowd as Boyd cruised in, waited for the right moment, and earned the insurance goal. Then a beauty ensued as Hunt sent one up to Stewart who faught to catch the leading pass and reached some more with a twist of tenacity to tweak our lead.  The Chief's then chirped their first goal, 3-1. With seconds remaining on the clock… Brownlee broke out with a challenging charge down the ice, with a shot on net, at the buzzer, but the score remained 3-1 for Bierworth's Bantam Jets.

The 4 pm game VS Lyndsay White saw the opposition get back-to-back goals midway through the first period and they'd gather 3 more before Jet's Stewart scored the Jet's first goal - just before the end of the 2nd period.  That would fuel a surge for the Jet's to be Ready in the Mix and start the 3rd period, where Grant would assist Armstrong: 5-2. Lindsay would capture another goal to end this game 6-2. Well, they say 'two outta three ain't bad'.  Congrats Jets on some solid play. Looking forward to regular season play in coming weeks.
