Mineral Capital Cup Press Release
Submitted By Jenny on Saturday, February 23, 2019
On Saturday, March 2nd, 2019, the Bancroft & District Minor Hockey Association is hosting the 2019 Mineral Capital Cup hockey tournament at the North Hastings Community Centre. The tournament is one of the many new efforts being implemented by the BDMHA as part of the association’s renewed perspective on offering affordable, sustainable, and team-focused minor hockey programming for Bancroft-area youth.  (CLICK TO READ MORE)

In past years, the Mineral Capital Cup hockey tournament has been offered by individual BDMHA teams in their respective divisions. Starting this year, the overall BDMHA has adopted it as a key piece in promoting youth minor hockey and the unique natural heritage and mineral-rich, Bancroft regional area.

For this year’s one-day tournament on Saturday March 2nd, teams from all over central and eastern Ontario are registered, from Barry’s Bay, Huntsville, Tweed, Otonabee, and Douro, in the Atom and PeeWee Rep divisions. With the ideal, end-of-season timing of the event, several teams have had to be turned away, which bodes well for the potential expansion of the event for next year. It is also planned that other divisions could be added, as the event gains popularity over the upcoming hockey season and beyond. To get more info and the schedule for the tournament click on the "Mineral Capital Cup" tab at the top of the website page.

Prior to and during the tournament, the BDMHA will be offering a number of fundraising opportunities to visitors and supporters, including raffle tickets which are on sale now, a 50-50 draw, a silent auction table, and other exciting programs. Prizes and donations for the event have been graciously provided by the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL team, local/regional area businesses and individuals, nearby AHL and OHL teams, and local BDMHA past and present members themselves. A sincere and special thank you goes out to this year’s Platinum Sponsor, Canadian Tire of Bancroft, for providing this year’s ice rental for the entire March 2nd event.

If you, your company, or your organization wishes to get involved in supporting the tournament or with the BDMHA in general, with dedicated sponsorship, prize donations, or other support of any kind, we encourage you to contact the BDMHA via email at [email protected] There is still plenty of time to get your organization recognized as a supporter of Bancroft minor hockey, with over 200 new visitors expected to attend the tournament, or in other ways outside the tournament.

The great game action and hockey-focused fun starts bright and early on Saturday morning at 8:00am and runs continuously with jam-packed excitement until 7:00pm. The tournament’s game-by-game schedule is available on the BDMHA’s website, at www.bancroftjets.com. There is no admission to attend, but participation in the various fundraising programs prior to and throughout the day are sincerely appreciated by local youth representing Bancroft and area in minor hockey during the season. -30-
