Bierworth Bantam Jets Bring Home the Gold
Barry's Bay hosted their Local League Bantam Tournament on January 11/20.  The Bierworth Jets played three games in the one-day tourney to become the "A" Division Gold medalists.

The Jets scored two goals in the last two minutes of the first period.  Grant and Wilson assisted the first goal of the tourney, scored by Cox. The follow-up goal was Brownlee's, assisted by Hunt. Brownlee would score another in the game, aided by Page, after Armstrong's rebound was snagged by Boyd and past the Cub's Keeper.  Hunt's first goal was unassisted as he won the face-off and followed in for a backhander goal. Hunt's second was from Stewart. The player of the game was awarded to Coulas. The final score was 6-3 for the Jets in the Madawaska Valley.

At 1 pm the first goal against the Eganville Eagles was assisted by Grant as Wilson was in front of the net, with his stick on the ice. Hudder then assisted Page, who winged an Eagle for our 2nd goal.  During an intense melee in front of the net, Boyd sent the puck out to Brownlee who successfully feathered the puck in the net. Working it up the ice, Grant goaled it to set the score at 4-0. A series of solid set ups ensued and one zinger pinged the side of the net.  Stewart fed Hunt who popped the puck up and in. Page then zipped in another goal. The final goal of the game was compliments of Hunt's slap shot. The match ended 8-0. The player of the game was awarded to Robinson for his shutout.

The third and final game was against the Petawawa Patriots who earned the first goal.

In reply, Stewart roared ahead to tie it up.  There was no shortage of shots on net. Boyd assisted Simpson to lead for the first time this game 2-1.  Brownlee won a solo effort to bring up the Jets score then Hunt earned two in a row, one from Page and the other from Stewart.  The last word was from Armstrong who scored on the empty net for a game final of 6-2. Dylan Brownlee was the player of the game. Well done Jets for clean and hard faught matches to win gold.  Defenders Hooey, and Hudder, get a nod for keeping the puck out of our end and getting plays started.
