After a long road trip, the CARSTAR
Bancroft Auto Body Atom Rep Jets were at home this past weekend to
face Loyalist and Frontenac as part of a home and home weekend.
The game on Saturday facing the Loyalist Jets left our kids yearning for more, as a number of breakdowns in team play were exploited by Loyalist, that ended with the home Jets scoreless and heavily defeated for their second game in a row.
On Sunday at high noon, after a good night’s rest and wound-licking, the Atom Jets scrambled their fighters to the North Hastings Community Centre to face off against the Frontenac Flyers, in what has annually been a dogfight in favour of the Flyers. However, with anchoring goaltending by Rylan Musclow, and strong positional play by the Jets skaters, the Jets were able to manage the Flyers in their offense, holding them to a final score of 7-4 over the hometown Jets.
The Jets are heading out on a special mission the weekend of October 26/27 in Wilberforce/Haliburton for the annual Matt Duchene Fall Classic Tournament, with games on Saturday in Wilberforce at 8am, 1pm, and 5pm, and finals on Sunday in Haliburton.
