Novice Rep Jets Travel Down East
The Wilson Timber Mart Novice Rep Jets headed out on the snow dusted roads of eastern Ontario this past weekend to try their luck against the two top teams in the league.
On Saturday, they faced the Frontenac Flyers, currently #1 in the standings and a strong defensive squad. The Jets battled throughout the game, but their offence was as cold as the waterslide’s pool, and they couldn’t penetrate the Flyers defence with the final score ending at 9-0 Flyers.
On Sunday, the Jets travelled east to the islands of Gananoque, the league’s second ranked team. At puck drop, the Jets dominated the first part of the initial frame, with aggressive play in the neutral zone, and a strong forecheck in the Islanders end. Slowly, the Islanders turned the waves of the Jets pressure, and took control of the match. But the Jets never quit, and at the end of the third period, spoiled the Islander goalie’s shutout potting two back to back goals, from Brody Harrison and Riley Kavanagh, assist to Ryder Hooey, setting the stage for the rematch coming up next weekend.
This coming weekend, the Novice Rep Jets have back-to-back games at home hosting the Islanders on Saturday, and Ennismore on Sunday at the North Hastings Community Centre. We invite you to come out and join in the fun and support the kids. Also, the Novice’s home tourney, the Mineral Capital Cup, is set for Saturday, November 25th, all day at the NHCC. Teams from Millbrook, Renfrew, Barry’s Bay, Stirling and others will be joining our Jets for a great day of hockey and other activities, and we invite you to come out and support this important community event.
