Novice Rep Jets Hold Their Ice Against the Flyers
The Wilson Timber Mart Novice Rep Jets played
their third game of the season at the NHCC on Sunday, October 15th and held their own against the league leading Flyers.
The Jets were up to the challenge of the Flyers, and took flight right from puck drop in the opening frame. Despite being down 1-0 at the end of the first, the Jets felt they had won the period, with high energy skating and strong two-way play.
A number of chances were had by both clubs in the second and Frontenac’s strong D shutdown the Jets attempts to get on the scoreboard. At the end of the second, the Jets had held the high-scoring Flyers to a score of 5-0, with strong defensive play in their own zone, in front of their busy netminder who faced up to 25 shots this game. In the third, the strong offence of the Flyers eventually took over, but the Jets never quit, holding the Flyers to a 11-0 final score.
The Jets head out on their first road trip next weekend, and play their next home game on Saturday, October 28th with puck drop at 3:00pm, against the Brighton Braves.
