The Wilson Timber Mart Novice Rep Jets played their second game of the season at the NHCC on Saturday, October 7th, and the team’s hard work at practices showed with the season’s first win over the Tweed Hawks, with a final score of 7-1.
The Jets’ strong positional play, defensive control, and afterburner speed were showcased during Saturday’s match and the home crowd was entertained. The scoresheet had Brody Harrison with a hat trick (3 goals), Kieran Cox with 2 goals, and rookies Reid McEathron and Ryder Hooey with their firsts. Assists were listed for Riley Kavanagh (2), Hope Trotter (2), Mason Gibson, Lucas Peelow, Ryder Hooey, Chloe Hudder, and Reid McEathron. Lots of chances were noted, including a missed penalty shot.
The Jets D of Jack Peters, Rylan Musclow, Ryder Hooey, and Brody Harrison shut down the Hawks offence, with netminder Jayden Hughes seeing less than five shots for the entire game. “My feet were cold” Hughes reported during press interviews in the dressing room after the game. Coaching staff were very pleased with the team effort and commitment to the game plan, and to hear about the goalie’s feet.
The Frontenac Flyers visit the Jets at the NHCC on Sunday, October 15th with puck drop at 3:00pm – come on out and support the kids, see you there!
