Three's a charm!
The Vito's Pizzeria Peewee Jets collected two more point in regular season play and were crowned Champions at the Matt Duchene Fall Classic Tournament in Haliburton.

The Vito's Pizzeria Peewee Jets were at home on Tuesday night to host the Tweed Hawks and looked sharp on their way to a 4-2 win.  Lighting the lamp for the Jets was Cody Switzer, Colson Jenkins (2), and Keegan Anderson.  Collecting the assists on the goals was Connor Sobry, James Armstrong, Owen Fergusson, Eric Hall and Tyson Carr.  Phillip Cannon put in a strong performance between the pipes.

On Saturday, the Jets travelled to Minden to take part in their third tournament of the season, the Matt Duchene Fall Classic.

The first game of the tournament saw the Jets take on the Mariposa Lightening where they won by a score of 3-1.  Fergusson scored a pair of goals in the game while Armstrong added one of his own.  Ryker Huygens, Anderson and Jenkins pitched in with the helpers.  Ben Landry stood tall in the Jets' cage.

In the second game, the Jets faced the home team, the Highland Storm.  The Jets struck first on a goal by Hall and then Jenkins scored a pair to secure the 3-2 win for the Jets.  Huygens, Brady Hunt and Fergusson (2) provided the helpers.  Cannon handled the goaltending duties.

The third game proved to be the Jets' toughest match of the day when they ran into the Toronto Shamrocks.  The game consisted of fast paced back and forth action with both teams exchanging scoring chances.  Unfortunately, the Jets ran out of time and were handed their first loss of the tournament (and the season) by a score of 4-3.

Despite the loss, the Jets' performance was enough to secure them a spot in the Semi finals on Sunday where they would face a familiar opponent in the Tweed Hawks.  The Jets appeared to be motivated by their loss the day before and took to the ice with all cylinders firing on their way to a dominant 9-1 win.  Jenkins found the back of the Hawks' net five times while Fergusson, Anderson, Jonathan Young and Connor Sobry each potted singles.  Assists were provided by Fergusson (3), Young, Anderson (2), Trevor McDowell, Tanner Potts, Carr (3), Sobry and Huygens (2).  Phillip Cannon was sharp in net turning away all but one of the Hawks' scoring chances.

The Jets continued their momentum into the finals where they clashed with the Prince Edward County Kings and skated away as Tournament Champs with a 7-4 win.  Anderson got things going for the Jets with a pair of goals while Fergusson followed up with two of his own and Jenkins finished things off with a hat trick.  Helpers were provided by Young (2), Jenkins, Potts, McDowell (3), Anderson (3), and Hall.

On deck: The Vito's Pizzeria Peewee Jets will travel to Douro on Friday to take on the Dukes in regular season play.
